AlgaeRevive Training Highlights the Role of Real-Time Environmental Data for Water Pollution Reduction
On December 26, 2025, a targeted information meeting and training session was held at the Tsotne Mirtskhulava Water Management Institute, part of Georgian Technical University. The event took place within the framework of the EU-funded project AlgaeRevive – “Using Algae Energy for Pollution Reduction and Development of the Blue Strategy” (BSB00091).
Advancing sustainable, data-driven solutions
AlgaeRevive aims to promote innovative and sustainable approaches to reducing water pollution by exploring the potential of algae as a natural resource, combined with modern, data-driven and technological solutions. A central goal of the project is to support the development of the Blue Strategy, which integrates environmental protection, scientific research, and sustainable resource management, with a strong focus on aquatic ecosystems in the Black Sea region.
Focus on real-time environmental data
The meeting focused on the processing and practical application of automatically transmitted environmental data through the Buyok system. Participants discussed how real-time data streams can enhance scientific research, inform engineering solutions, and support evidence-based environmental policies in water management and pollution reduction.
Strong interdisciplinary participation
The event brought together academic staff and researchers from Georgian Technical University, scientists and engineers from the Tsotne Mirtskhulava Water Management Institute, as well as experts from Ecocenter for Environmental Protection, an organization with consultative status to the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
Building collaboration for healthier aquatic ecosystems
The session encouraged active knowledge exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the practical use of innovative monitoring tools. By strengthening links between science, technology, and policy, the training directly supports AlgaeRevive’s mission to deliver science-based, sustainable solutions for healthier aquatic ecosystems across the Black Sea region.
