Upcoming International Conference in Georgia: Black Sea Security and Climate Change
An international scientific conference entitled
“Modern Problems of Black Sea Security in the Context of Climate Change”
will take place on 28–30 May 2026 in Batumi, Georgia.
The conference is organised within the framework of the EU co-funded project BSB00091 – “Harnessing Algae Power for Pollution Reduction and Blue Growth”, implemented under the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme 2021–2027.
The event will bring together researchers, experts and stakeholders to discuss key challenges and solutions related to the Black Sea region, with a focus on climate change and environmental security. The main thematic areas include:
- algae and bioremediation;
- coastal zone management;
- climate and environmental change;
- wastewater, pollution and ecology;
- environmental protection and recreation.
Participants are invited to contribute with scientific papers. The deadline for abstract submission is 22 March 2026, and detailed guidelines and an abstract template have been provided by the organisers.
For organisational purposes, each partner country is kindly requested to indicate the number of participants who plan to attend both the Conference and the accompanying Team Meeting. The exact venue in Batumi will be confirmed once the total number of participants from the project consortium is finalised.
In addition, coordinators of participating countries are invited to nominate:
- one representative for the Scientific Committee, and
- two representatives for the Organising Committee,
and to submit the names and contact details of the nominated persons at the earliest convenience.
Travel to Batumi is possible via the international airports of Tbilisi, Kutaisi or Batumi, as well as through the Turkey–Georgia land border.
The conference will provide an important platform for knowledge exchange, scientific cooperation and discussion of innovative approaches to environmental protection and sustainable development in the Black Sea region under changing climate conditions.
